Why OOH Operators Need Smarter Tools - Now

The Out-of-Home (OOH) industry is evolving fast. There’s growing interest in smarter planning, deeper insights, and faster ways to connect inventory to audience needs. While expectations continue to rise—from both internal teams and external partners - many sales teams are still relying on outdated spreadsheets, siloed inventory systems, and manual workflows to respond to complex RFPs.

It’s time for something better.

At StreetMetrics, we’ve been working on something new—something designed to help OOH sellers rethink how they plan, package, and position their inventory. While we’re not revealing all the details just yet, early previews have been promising, and the feedback reinforces what we’ve long believed: smarter tools will help OOH teams compete, differentiate, and deliver more strategic value.

One of the clearest areas for improvement is around RFP response. Building campaign packages today often means juggling audience expectations, format constraints, market targeting, and multiple data sources, all under tight deadlines. It’s a heavy lift. And when sales teams don’t have the right tools, responding effectively becomes a major challenge.

There’s also the issue of underutilized inventory. While standout units tend to get most of the attention, there’s often hidden value in the long tail; inventory that aligns with niche audiences, specific POIs, or certain campaign types, but gets overlooked due to time constraints or visibility gaps.

That’s the opportunity we’re focused on.

We believe tools should do more than just list inventory; they should help uncover the strategic role each unit can play. They should reduce friction. Make planning faster. And allow teams to build smarter campaigns with data that backs their decisions.

We’ll be sharing more in the coming weeks. But for now, know this: we’re building something designed to make the next era of OOH planning a lot more intelligent.
